Join us in enjoying a table reading and discussion of Sean McGrath's new script What Happened to Our Friend Mikey?
Two years ago, Theo Sedjwick's good friend, Mikey, someone he had known for thirty years, murdered his wife. He bludgeoned her to death with a wine bottle in their shared apartment in Houston. Then he disappeared, or so claimed the headlines; the inescapable, unavoidable headlines. The ones he and his friends - Cam, Charl, and Marquette - tried to comprehend from afar. They couldn't. So they met up, months later, at a bar in Sunnyside, New York - blocks from where they - and Mikey - all grew up. And they told their stories, together, hoping that the collective recollections painted layers over a framework of confusion and disbelief and allowed them to all draw their own conclusions as to what happened to their friend, Mikey.
What Happened to Our Friend Mikey? is a three-act play that fills the pages with hazy around the edges, imperfect by nature, ethereal memories of life-long friends. In listening to their story, we reflect on our own: are we just who we pretend to be, as Vonnegut famously asked? And how well do we really know one another, anyway?

with actors:
Isabelle Solomon (she/her) is currently on the Harold team Semiprecious at the Washington Improv Theater. She also performed in The Heist at Capital Fringe Fest 2019, Cabin Affair at DC Arts Center in 2020, and a string of staged readings through Theater Lab and Woolly Mammoth in 2020. Most recently, she co-created the two-part web series A Rona Election. Isabelle is a proud dog mom and Hufflepuff.
Voted 'Most Clueless' in high school, Luke Slominski has exceeded all expectations to become a mediocre improvisor in Washington, DC. When not mindlessly scrolling on his phone, he can be found mindlessly playing chess, and sometimes working as an engineer. Don't laugh if he reads slow. He's trying his best.
Al Koroma sometimes thinks he’s the main character of his own movie… but he’s secretly a supporting character and is most definitely a Slytherin. He’s got tons of plants, but a lot fewer than he did at this time last year. Don’t worry, they’re not dead. He’s gifted them to friends. Al loves movies and can talk forever about them. His favorite genre by day is horror. His favorite genre by night is also horror. Al performs on Lava Kids for Washington Improv Theatre, so come see him there and say hello.
